What is there to see and do in the area?Paisley is a town only 6 miles from Glasgow City Centre. It is ideally situated for both Glasgow Airport and Prestwick Airport making Paisley the perfect base to explore the west Coast of Scotland.Paisley as a historic town has many examples of stunning architecture including Paisley Abbey - a magnificent Baptist Cathedral. It was founded in 1163 as a monastery and is an excellent example of Victorian architecture built in Renaissance style. Paisley Town Hall is a popular entertainment and conference venue. It hosts a variety of concerts, exhibitions and conferences. Only a 10 minute drive from the Abbey Inn is Silverburn Shopping Centre. With almost 100 stores all undercover it's a great way to spend the day. Scotland is the home of golf and there are many golf courses in the Paisley and Renfrewshire area including Barshaw, Paisley and Ralston. Further afield you can enjoy some excellent links golf on the Ayrshire coast. Glasgow City Centre is only 6 miles from Paisley, there you will be spoilt for choice. The Bull Inn in Paisley's New Street was established as a pub in 1901. It is a listed building as it was designed by W. D. McLelland, a pupil of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The bar's exterior, bar and snug rooms are all part of the original design of the building. Enjoy a great pint of locally brewed cask ale or traditional pub food in this piece of Paisley history.
